In Psalms 127:3 it is written, “Children are a gift from God” (Bible.com, 2011), each life given is valued and was wonderfully created by God. Though He sees children as a gift, the world has blurred and distorted that vision by not valuing the life of children as God has. The ethical dilemma of abortion will be evaluated and resolved using principles of the Christian Worldview.
Ethical Dilemma
Susan is a woman who has been trying to get pregnant for years and when she finally got pregnant the blood test showed that her baby had down syndrome. Her doctor suggested aborting the fetus as well as the evolutionary biology professor she asked. On one hand, Susan has always wanted a baby, but she also has a successful career and wanted a balance between work and her family which would be hard with a Down Syndrome child. Susan could either abort the baby which in some views is considered killing an innocent life or she could keep the baby and deal with lifelong care taking for the baby.

In Jeremiah it states that before a baby is even born God knows them and has a plan for their lives (Jeremiah 1:5, NIV). The Bible further illustrated the value of human life as well as shows that babies are a gift in Psalms 139:13-16, by elucidating that God created each person in their mother’s womb wonderfully and perfectly and does not make mistakes when creating human life (NIV). These values can influence someone’s decision to have an abortion because it would devalue human life by exemplifying that human life is not unique nor that God exclusively creates each person and has a plan for their
