Since the origin of humanity comes into the world, various architectures have been existed, such as Pyramids in Egyptian period, Etruscan Temples in Etruscan period, Old Saint Peter’s Basilica in Early Christian period, and Chartres Cathedral in Gothic period. According to the plans of those four architectures, it is available to identity what beliefs of people of that period were and what customs belonged to them. Therefore, those architectures could be seen those were made by the three aspects: beliefs, and customs, architectural plans. Belief is the most fundamental element of architectures. In Ancient Egyptian period, huge rocks and sand are the most common materials. So many Egyptians, especially slavers, built huge rocks by stages. Even though deceased Pharaoh was entered in a coffin and brought into the Pyramid, they though his soul still remains. Therefore, they made an air shaft and the built huge rocks could protect him from send sand storms. In Etruscan period, Temples were a lot smaller than any other structures. However, they could worship to various deities due to separated rooms with a solid rear wall. The big feature of this kind of Temples is much less people or one person entered there to worship. Even though they used same room, the God might be different depending on what each person believed. On the other hand, Basilica and Cathedral had long aisles and entrances. However, the purpose of Basilica’s long entrance might be Constantine wanted to have great applause from citizens. Also, the weather was not quite beautiful in that area, hence the entrance is not opened somehow. Pyramids’ facade is very simple, but the inner structure is quite scientific. There is reliving chambers in order to release rocks’ pressure from the king’s chamber. There are ascending and descending passages for Egyptians to build it. Since Pharaoh is brought in the chamber, Egyptians used a shaft to come out from Pyramid after closing the passages. There are mystery chambers which were not built completely such as underground chamber and Queen’s chamber. Etruscan Temples were built much simpler. There is large space in front of an entrance. The columns were made of wood to hold up second pediment. One special feature of Temples is sculptures on a pediment to commemorate or serve the specific figures. Basilica and Chartres Cathedral are built more detail and complex. First, Basilica have long nave with side aisles. There is altar all the way down of nave and apse behind of it. This inner structure allows lots of people to come in. The style is used mosaic and fresco, which give more splendor and luxurious mood. Second, Chartres Cathedral is really vertical space. The clerestory is expanded and clustered shacks rising uninterrupted from the capitals. The quintessential part of it is flying buttress and stained glasses. The purpose of the buttress was for building hold. Stained glasses do not look like bright. The reason is supposed to be stained glasses transformed to new lights or lux nova. Unlike other
