Evaluate The Relationship Between Theory And Practice

Researchers have affirmed the positive and beneficial relationship between theory and practice and, thus, the application of theories to real life problems cannot be overly emphasized. In every field, theories and frameworks are tested with the aim of affirming, amending, or rejecting the theories. Failure to apply theories in resolving managerial and other practice related problems makes theories useless as there is no way of validating the applicability of such theories. It is thus essential to apply existing theories in various fields including project management to assess their practicality and validity or otherwise. In discussing the application of theory, the main focus is on the relationship between theory and its application; establishing how theory guides practice; and problems involved in theory translation. In subsequent sections of this paper, the stakeholder theory is discussed in details …show more content…

Theories are proven hypotheses which have predictive abilities in addition to definitions, and the relationship between variables. Practice on the other hand is the application of a particular theory in real life situations aimed at solving problems. While theory explains phenomenal dynamics in a setting by addressing pragmatic problems, practice is the application of the content and knowledge of the particular theory in real world situations, solving problems. For instance, the closure of the gap between theory and practice is seen in Nursing (Ahtisham & Jacoline, 2015; and Pirani, 2016); innovations (Ribeiro &Cherobim, 2017); and project management (Izmailov, Korneva, & Kozhemiakin, 2016) among other disciplines. The list of applications and disciplines are endless in the fight to apply theories to real life
