When people face sufferings or experience disasters, one of the reasons people try to explain and make sense of all the problems is sin. Everyone is a sinner because we are the descendants of Adam. The original sin is inherited in our genes and continues from generation to generation. The sin separates us from God’s absolute protection in the Garden of Eden, and forces us to merge in the chaotic nature outside of it. The direct results of the sin are the labors men have to do in order to get food, and the pains women have to face when they are giving birth to children (Genesis 3:16-19). However, the more important are the reasons which made Eve listen to the serpent. The reasons could be arrogance and disobedience. The arrogance created the desire in Eve’s heart that she wanted to be as smart as God. The arrogance limits Eve’s vision for short-term joy but forgot to consider the outcome of her choice. The arrogance led to disobedience to God’s commandment. The disobedience led to the original sin. It seems that arrogance and disobedience are part of people’s nature since Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden. It seems that parts of the human nature cause evil behaviors and have bad results. However, I think that since the human being is created in God’s image and spirit, the human nature does not have negative factors. The arrogance, which was the main problem in original sin, was not a negative part in people. The real problem is that because of the arrogance, the choice Eve did made troubles. Same thing happens in the biblical interpretations of sin or other doctrines. It is not the different interpretations of the Bible cause trouble, but people’s negative attitudes towards each other cause the trouble. Sin is the wrong choice people made without divine guidance. Though I do not agree with his logic about the connections between radical love, cross boundaries, and sin, I do think that the choice of rejection causes wound and suffering to others which is not a choice out of love. It is not for sinners (as all of us are) to make judgements on other people and determine they sin or not. But sin is a wrong choice made by people which has clear negative results (wounds, suffering). Love is not the opposite of sin, it is the remedy from God for people be save from
