Saucier discuss the multiple situations of discrimination between whites and blacks and the difference they have in social situations. The effect the study had was that black and whites are very similar when it comes to discrimination. If blacks were in danger, or needed help, whites were more likely to not help. Not because they were black but going out of their way to help is way more effort then it would take to walk over and help. As similar as blacks want to say they are more willing, the study found that blacks are just as unwilling to help as whites. This shows that in our society, it doesn’t matter what race one is, both are to blame for the fact that discrimination is still around.

Murry discuses the affects of racism have on African American families. It focusses on the family within so that the reader is able to look at the way it breaks down the family. Within the relationships of the father and the mother, and even the little children. It shows the statistics of 383 families and how the families were able to deal with it. This is an important article because it shows the psychological affects discrimination can have on a family, how that can affect a child’s human development.
