So if a company has strict policies concerning the age for a specific task anyone in your age group would be affected. This is the opposite of direct discrimination. However the same principle applies. Indirect discrimination is allowed if the employer could prove that it is warranted and the process is called objective justification. Harassment is when someone offend you because of you age. For example the older employee who is picked on at a staff meeting because he/she is not techno savvy. That person can be made to fell humiliated and embarrassed and this is my no means acceptable. Direct and Indirect discrimination allow room for justification but harassment can never be justified only punished. This in my opinion is when discrimination becomes a problem. Victimization is when you are singled out for unfair treatment because you report an age discrimination situation or you defended someone who is being discriminated upon because of their age. Victimization is unacceptable and cannot be justified. Ageing has become an issue especially for women. Women spend a whole lot of money on cosmetics surgery to defy their again process to compete in a world that gravitates towards youthful beauty. There is a negative stereo type attached with aging and people somehow imagine that you’re impotent once you begin to get old. This negative stereo type is called ageism. (Faculty Webster n.d.). However, in my country there are so many issued that gets sweep under the rug and some of these issues are not taken as seriously as it wold be in the US. So employers get away with a lot of unfair treatments towards individuals because their Union can only so much. Both of my friends were treated unjustly and was discriminated upon because of their age and justice did not prevail because the law is not as serious with these kind of offences. Circumstances were different and it was in the US the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) would have proceed with litigation for the blatant age
