Trusting V.S Ignorance When you trust someone, you believe whatever they say. This also means that you will allow them to make decisions for you. However, ignorance is having such a lack of knowledge about a subject. In the novel Animal farm, by George Orwell, we see how ignorant the farm animals are of the pigs. The farm animals all trusted each other and would think that they were mistaken when something on the farm had changed. The pigs became the rulers of the farm because of their intelligence over the other animals. Three examples of the animals ignorance are, when the seven commandments changed, snowballs beliefs in rebellion and on which side of it he stood on, and when Napoleon executed some of the farm animals for communicating with Snowball. After old major died, the oldest and wisest pig on the farm, Snowball and Napoleon came up with the seven commandments of animalism, whatever goes upon two legs is a enemy, whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend, no animal shall wear clothes, no animal shall sleep in a bed, no animal shall drink alcohol, no animal shall kill any other animal, all animals are equal. In order for Napoleon to take over the farm entirely he had to get rid of snowball, not only physically but mentally. Once Napoleon had his guard dogs chase Snowball off the farm, he quickly went to work on convincing the animals that Snowball was also an enemy. Napoleon had his spokesperson, Squealer, tell the other animals that snowball was really working with the humans, and was playing them the whole time. However some of the animals secretly still communicated with Snowball. Napoleon was very scared of there being another rebellion against him.
