Types of Propaganda Throughout time propaganda has been used to push ideas into one's mind. Whether it's been about supporting your country, or the filet-o-fish song, it's been here to catch our attention. In the book animal farm, propaganda is used to control the animals. Many of these types of propaganda are used in our world and affect how people act. Animal Farm has many great examples of how propaganda can manipulate people and steer their minds off of the path they are on. Animal Farm did a great job in showing the fear factor of propaganda. Napoleon made it appear to the animals that if they continued to do things their way bad things would happen such as Snowball attacking or Mr. Jones coming back. Now even though this is false propaganda, it still incorporated the fear factor. The Real Cost commercials send out scary scenes and messages to teens trying to scare them away from tobacco products. Napoleon had numerous animals slaughtered to show the animals what would happen if they rebelled. Animals saw him working hard and following what Napoleon had said. This led to people joining him due to his importance. During WW2 bandwagoning was a major part in how the war for the U.S. ran. There were people who wanted to fight for their country, their were people who fought for their family, and their were people who fought for their freedom. People knew what they needed to do to push the country forward and they did it no questions asked. During the uprising, [Orwell 28] the animals had the idea of pushing forward for their cause.
