Imperialism has been around since the 1400s, and many countries have been affected by it, some being Africa, England, and Asia. In the movie Avatar, imperialism is a recurring factor. This movie is based solely on imperialism. Avatar reflects historical imperialism using economic, social, and military examples.

In history, the Europeans were able to prevail Africa with the technology that they have, and this relates to Avatar because the sky people were able to prevail the Na’vi with the type of technology that they have by using guns, helicopters, and tracking devices. In Avatar, the natives were able to prohibit the humans from dominating their land. The main character Jake Sully used machinery and guns to battle the sky people in order to win the attack. This relates to some events in history because Ethiopia is one of few countries in Africa who was able to abide European rule in the Battle of Adwa. Finally, in Avatar while the sky people were trying to take over the land in Pandora, the Na’vi fought back. These events relate to history because the Europeans were taking over land in Asia, and the nations in Asia displeased and fought back. These events in Avatar and history are very similar because the Na’vi and Asian nations fought back because they were getting sick of the sky people and Europeans destroying their native land.
