Persuasive essay
Hanna had an abortion. This conversation getting was never brought up in any family discussions, and I don’t think it ever will. My family is the typical Christian family; we attend church every Sunday and are active in the church activities. We grew up with the idea that abortions were not even an option. I remember watching my sister’s stomach grow and grow for months, but refused to believe that she could get pregnant.
Hanna was eighteen years old when this happened and had her whole life ahead of her. She was about to graduate high school and start college in the fall. We all know it’s possible to raise a child and work for a degree at the same time, but it would be extremely difficult. Her boyfriend at the time was controlling and abusive and not the kind of person you want to be tied down with for the rest of your life. My sister is simple minded and blind when it came to dangerous relationships. She gave him everything, and in return he would leave her with bruises and tried to control every aspect of her life.

I remember waking up early and my mom taking her to the doctor. Later she would come home throwing up. When I asked what was wrong with her I was told to shut up and mind my own business. That was the moment all the facts clicked together. I was surprising to me that they decided so quickly that an abortion was the best option. Every Christian value I grew up on was broken. I remember my mom making late night phone calls to find a doctor to perform the operation. No doctor in the state of Texas was willing to perform this operation because she was too far along with the pregnancy. My mom and sister took a secret trip to New Mexico so that they could remove the fetus. When they returned my sister was in tears when she told me what happened. I didn’t want to hear anything about it so I just shut her down and avoided that conversation at all
