Title
Many women today are facing a crisis that threatens their right to have control over their own bodies. In the light of the Roe v. Wade case being overturned, 50 years worth of protection for women's rights were lost and this lead to many states putting heavy restrictions or even outright banning abortion. People should not ban abortions because it’s a womans right to choose whether or not to keep the pregnancy. A woman should not have to carry for nine months just to give it up for adoption right after birth. Mostly because, everything in the United States healthcare system is extremely expensive. In fact, millions of women die due to unsafe abortions. This goes against a woman’s right to life, causing many states to review laws that criminalize abortions and increase access to family planning and sexual reproductive health information to reduce the number of deaths due to unsafe abortions (Safe and Legal). Some people may argue that abortions go against a child's right to life; however, I disagree. It’s scientifically proven that a fetus doesn’t have a heartbeat until a certain age, and in that time a fetus is not technically alive. More specifically, a fetus doesn’t have any amount of recognizable traces of heart development until around 6 weeks of gestation (Sullivan). I do agree with this information to a certain extent. A child should be born when both parents are ready, whether it be financially, mentally, or physically, to give that child the best possible future. Not to mention, that men will never know what its like to go though the pain of child birth just to give that child up for adoption and have to pay for the hospital expenses after. If the bans on abortions go through, the mortality rate from unsafe abortions will increase. If this continues, more women will die because of the laws that discriminate against them, pushing them to get unsafe abortions. Women have the right to their own bodies and that is a right the government should not have the power to take away; thus, we need to stop these laws that discriminate against
