Working with my parents and participating in the FBLA competitive events have shaped me as a person. My parents own a struggling motel and do not have much money to hire employees. This encouraged me to step up and take over managerial operations and front desk responsibilities while they worked at another job. Because the motel is not vastly technology advanced, the room renting process and bookkeeping was all on paper. I have seen firsthand how tedious these processes could be on traditional pen and paper.
They need to asses their students properly to meet their needs and to ensure each student feels equal to the student next to them, with our
She always instilled in me the courage to stand up for my beliefs and the value of hard work. My mother’s ambition and hard work made her very successful in her career. She has been able to travel around the world and live comfortably. My father also values hard work but is not happy in his trade. The success of a career or job can influence a day to day emotions in a couple.
My mom and I moved in with my grandmother for a number of years. Though I didn’t realize it until I was a little older, I watched my mom balance her schedule between two to three jobs and going to school. My mother wanted to have a better life and future not only for me but herself as well. This strong determination led her to put me in private school instead of public school.
The notion that Man is saved by grace and not by works challenged the core beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church, it sparked a great religious movement throughout Britain and the thirteen colonies known as the Great Awakening. The Great Awakening, typically known now as the First Great Awakening began in the 1730s and continues through the 1740s. This movement consisted of church revivals that focused on the people’s relationship with Jesus and not how much power or money they possessed. George Whitefield, a great influencer in the movement, said, “Take care of your life and the Lord will take care of your death.” (1740)
Before long, I started working full-time in order to help my mother pay rent and utility bills. I recall carpooling to work with a friend and riding in the passenger seat studying every chance I got. I also remember finishing work at five in the morning, then starting class at 9:00AM. My time management was key since work took a vast amount of my study time. Taking on my stepfather’s responsibilities makes me proud and has taught me to take resolute action in these difficult times.
Breaking the Cycle 16, 17, 18, 19. These numbers are how old my grandma, my aunt, my mom, and my sister were when they got pregnant with their first child. Most of the women on my mother’s side were teen moms without a college degree, some without a high school diploma and all were single. I plan to not continue this cycle. Growing up, I saw how my mom struggled to find a career she enjoys with just her high school diploma, even though she is a very intelligent person.
"You have to focus on your education, now it's more important than anything else, but you have to be open minded to other things. I want you to have a good life and be able to buy anything you want without always depending on others. " My mother said. I know she wanted me to be successful and appreciate the education and opportunities we have that she could not. Coming from another country, all I wanted was to live the American Dream with my family and want to be someone who my mother is proud of.
My family has had one of the biggest effects on my life with my work experiences and educational attainment. It was because of my family that I have been able to go to the schools that I have gone to and have the supplies with me in school. It also thanks to my dad, most likely, that I have been able to go to the Early College, since my dad didn’t go to college. It has also been thanks to my family that I have been able to obtain a good work experience. My mom is a technical writer that works at Oracle and my father has his own company.
My mother worked hard and always told me if it is one thing she will make sure of is that I get the best education she can afford. I remember my mom having to work hard at her job and still come home and help my grandmother do all the house chores while my uncles just played video games after school all day. They did not have to wash a pan or sweep the floor, but I never understood till I became a little older. In my teenage years, I started to understand society's way of thinking.
When my mom and her siblings arrived here, they were in some sort of shock. They arrived here in the middle of summer. When they walked out of the airport, they saw people in such revealing clothes that they all felt the need to avert their eyes. It took them a while to grow accustomed to the lifestyle and the people here. My oldest uncle and aunt enrolled in Queens Community College, while my mom and her two younger brothers all attended Abraham Lincoln High School.
This job really taught me about the importance of children having a routine to follow as well as the impact teachers can have on a child’s life. After my first year in college, I realized that I wanted to gain more experience with children of all ages. Shortly after,
College, every kids dream when they were little was that they wanted to go to college, but the question is are they ready for it? Many say that we have not been properly educated for the future, but others say we have been taught the proper things we just choose not to learn the material. The problem with this is who is right? there are two theories, but not one of them stands out to be the correct one. This issue has been going around ever since the time they let in more students into the university that didn’t have high English or math skills, they let them in to fill the space.
High school has impacted my life in so many ways. High School taught me so many things, from personal relationships to creating a relationship with my education. As a freshman, I made a huge amount of mistakes and I regret doing foolish things, but I’ve realized, I was only maturing into the young adult I am today. Freshman year, I was out of focus and I was only trying to find myself. I would also prioritize other things and ignore my parent’s advice, where they would tell me to focus in school and give it my full attention.
Not only do they have to worry about the stressors that typical students face, but they also have fears about accessing support and resources in order for them to succeed. In order for students to feel comfortable
