There are many positive attributes and assets that I possess. One of them is I am hard working; this will help our FFA chapter because I will venture to make a better and stronger chapter. Another positive attribute is I am reliable; I will strive to be at all of the meetings and activities that the chapter will bestow upon me. Last of all, I am a leader because I am passionate about the things I do while being open minded to the opinions of others. The FFA Chapter has many activities for members to participate in.
Throughout high school I have participated in many different activities and programs, but one of the opportunities I was given I will carry with me forever. As a junior at River Valley I participated in the Marion General Teen Volunteer Program. After interviewing and being placed in the physical therapy unit I took the opportunity to branch out into other areas of the hospital. I soon made my way to the labor and delivery floor where everyday a miracle happened. My duties while volunteering included assisting the nurses during hearing checks, changing diapers, and rocking crying infants in special care.
This drastically developed my leadership skills and enabled me to take action and have a more direct impact on the world. These skills will prepare me to be a leader and an innovator in
Personal Statement- Stephanie Olivera Growing up I was always the odd one in our family. When my parents started having children, they did not plan us very well. I am 5 years younger than my older brother, 4 years younger than my sister and 8 years older than my younger brother. I was the child that did not have anyone to "play" with, and I grew accustomed to being alone.
I agree with you that the main concerns of the editor was to address the people and bring the myth forward. I too found it hard at first to understand the real meaning of myth in this context. Every time I read the word myth I thought of it as being a story that was not true. I found myself having to review Frigge’s explanation of myth in chapter 4. Frigge describes myth as having a structure of a story and a purpose “to explain why things the way they are” (Frigge, 55).
Being an active member of civic engagement in both my community and my high school has served me great pride within these past four years. I knew before my freshman year that I wanted to get involved right away in hopes that I would make friends and help some people out, but I truly had no idea what kind of impact my involvement would give me. I started off by simply enrolling in some clubs, including KeyClub and FBLA, but then worked my way up to eventually becoming President of both clubs by my senior year. I have also been a voted class officer all four years of high school, and won Class President my senior year. I am a leader in my school's SADD chapter as a member of the Executive Council as well, and find leadership around other female athletes as a four year varsity athlete myself.
I knew that death was real and it would eventually happen to all of us. But at 13 I never realized I would experience it yet. I thought that this week was gonna be fun, I mean, who doesn't love four days off of school. But it wasn't, this was the worst 4 day weekend of my life. I realized to hold the people/animals you love the most closest to you because the next morning they could be gone.
“Thank you science, thank you,” said Dr. Foley, my mentor at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, when we finally saw a faint band on our immunoblot after having optimized and repeated the experiment more than ten times over the period of two months. Moments like this, are the moments at which biomedical science begins, the start of its long journey to clinical medicine. To me, being a physician-scientist means working right at the membrane between theoretical science, which has the power to generate new knowledge, and clinical medicine, which acts as a conduit for this new knowledge to reach the patients in a digestible and more practical way. This is precisely the place between the abstract and the concrete that I wish to occupy in
Being a researcher in theoretical physics for quantum computing is a job that has called out to me all of my life. The current research being done in quantum computing needs to find a useful implementation. This job appeals to me because I thoroughly enjoy learning about new things and being caught up with all the current technology. Growing up I could see the technology of today grow and shape. Relative to about thirty years ago technology has seemed to evolve at an exponential rate.
One reason I want to teach in this school district is because I live in the area and I want to make an impact on my community. I want to help the kids in this community in a variety of different ways. I want to teach them about social studies and help them through school. I know school can be tough for students so I want to help the kids in my community with their education and their personal issues within the school.
I feel like starting off dumb and getting serious so I can get into a writing zone and it won’t be awful. Some dumb thing that I need to do to make my life better would be I really need to find something to read that isn’t manga. Why? Because I’m a huge book lover and I always feel empty without a book and I want to fall in love with a book again and not want to put it down, which I can do with manga but my manga is taking forever to come in from the library and the volumes only take me an hour to read and I need something a little bigger. To get deeper with why I like to read is because I love the feeling of escaping, of being away from all of the hardships of my life and to see all the other problems of fake people, and think about the world
Throughout life I have experienced near-death, family and personal difficulties but I have had many self-accomplishments and life-altering experiences. I grew up in a small town consumed by nature and I had a passion for skiing, however, it came with a challenge. While skiing one day, the gondola reached fifty feet above the ground, the doors malfunctioned and I fell out. I hit a tree on the way down breaking my leg, collar bone and lacerated my liver.
My whole life I have wanted to grow up and make a change specifically involving children, and while I majority of people who want to help change a child’s life go into education I wanted to take a different approach. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I realized that what I wanted to do to help promote change was through working for non-profits. One of my favorite non-profit organizations in the Make-A-Wish foundation, using my degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing my dream job would be the position of Marketing and Communications Manager. As a Marketing and Communications Manager my job would consist of implementing strategies for marketing, communication, and brand development through PR projects,
My family has always encouraged every aspect of my life. They inspire me to excel academically and to broaden my interests so I may determine the activities and goals I wish to conquer. Moreover, they are the advocates for me to always strive to become a better person. Academically, the high school I attend has a ratio of eleven students to one teacher and class sizes ranging from 10 to 25 students. This proportion allowed me to become close to my teachers and to engage in my specific aptitudes.
“If a window of opportunity appears, don’t pull down the shade.” In this case, the nuclear physics program is the window of chance to further my education. One slight hesitation might result in a missed opportunity of a life time. A previous nuclear physics student had told me about this program; he encouraged me to join and believed that it was a life changing opportunity to experience a course outside of high school. “Although at times it can prove to be challenging,” he said “the experience is well worth it.”
