“If a window of opportunity appears, don’t pull down the shade.” In this case, the nuclear physics program is the window of chance to further my education. One slight hesitation might result in a missed opportunity of a life time. A previous nuclear physics student had told me about this program; he encouraged me to join and believed that it was a life changing opportunity to experience a course outside of high school. “Although at times it can prove to be challenging,” he said “the experience is well worth it.” Being able to learn from a different source will allow me to acquire knowledge from another’s point of view. The things that I learn through this program can impact me as to where I can carry the education through out my life. If there is a certain topic or fact that I am not familiar with, I would first ask the teacher and then tend to do more research about the subject. Also, I have a willingness to acquire more knowledge than what my current high school can offer. If taking this program will give me a better understanding of the world around us, then why not take it? Knowledge is power and key to the future. A crucial component of myself is my dedication, reliance, and ability to speak another language. After attending school for 12 years, I have never missed a day even with a constant cough or sneeze. Getting accepted into this program would mean punctuality and hard work. I have no problem with getting things done before a deadline. Another aspect of myself is that I am able to speak another language, Mandarin Chinese, and am learning a third one, Spanish. It was studied that bilingual children are shown to do better than monolingual peers. Thus, may increase my learning capability by
