My whole life I have wanted to grow up and make a change specifically involving children, and while I majority of people who want to help change a child’s life go into education I wanted to take a different approach. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I realized that what I wanted to do to help promote change was through working for non-profits. One of my favorite non-profit organizations in the Make-A-Wish foundation, using my degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing my dream job would be the position of Marketing and Communications Manager. My top five strengths are, restorative, adaptability, activator, strategic, and positivity. In the job description has a lot of key point directly related to my strengths such as ‘the ability to work autonomously in a changing environment while keeping supervisors appropriately appraised of issues, problems, opportunities, and progress,’ (Make-A-Wish) which I can accomplish with my strength of adaptability which gives me the ability to go with the flow and take things as the come. I can use my strategic and restorative strength through ‘implementing the strategic vision of the chapter and Make-A-Wish brand,’ these strengths will also help me be detail-oriented and well organized. (Make-A-Wish) Make-A-Wish being the organization that it is positivity is essential when working with external clients especially when dealing with the children and their families and when working with internal staff. The strength activator will help me in program planning, coordinating different departments, and developing monthly and quarterly reports.
