Tamia Kirksey My Nursing Philosophy Nursing philosophy is a mixture of the direct practice of principles, values, and beliefs. My nursing philosophy is to be holistic, meaning to treat a person as a whole and not just treating their physical symptoms, but also their mental and social factors. It also includes having the ability to be empathetic to all individuals a nurse may be provided, such as families, communities, and individuals. Nurses are liable to protect their patients, take actions in making the best of a situation, and making the healing process for a patient more bearable, beneficial, and wholesome.
When thinking about my personal philosophy of nursing the word diversity comes to mind. I myself come from a diverse background. Being Hispanic and living in different parts of the united states I have had the pleasure of experiencing different cultures. As a nurse, I have encountered diverse patient experiences. For example the Chinese elderly woman who would not take her medication or eat.
Each theory has a specific purpose and varies in how abstract, formal, and restrictive it is. There has been a movement from focus on grand theory to middle range theory over time. As the world continues to evolve and develop it is important for nursing theory to do the same. As grand theory is becoming smaller middle range theory is growing. (Smith & Parker, 2015).
Prior to taking this class, I had not given nursing philosophy much thought, however, after this weeks reading I realize that nursing philosophy is important for understanding “What is nursing? What is the profession of nursing? [and] What do nurses do?”. (Black, 2017, pp. 178). Having this knowledge provides focus for our roles as nurses, as well a purpose for our practice.

My Philosophical Worldview of Nursing The interaction of human beings and the setting of domicile must be fully explored to appreciate their way of life. My nursing worldview is shaped mostly by my beliefs and values and somewhat by the work of Florence Nightingale at during the Crimean war. According to Fee & Garofalo (2010), Nightingale’s work focused on the surroundings of the sick soldiers.
In the world of healthcare, amidst advancements and changes, one truth remains constant: "Caring is the essence of nursing," as Jean Watson beautifully puts it. These words, simple yet profound, have shaped my philosophy of nursing and continue to resonate with me on a deeply personal level. From childhood to nursing school experiences, each step has deepened my understanding of what it means to be a nurse. This essay explores my evolving philosophy, highlighting the importance of compassion, advocacy, and holistic care in nursing practice. My journey into nursing began long before I entered the program.
Nursing is a profession that is dedicated to advocating for their patients and the families that support them. It is a goal of the nurse to make sure that the patient is properly taken care of by their entire health care team, and they ensure that the patient is treated with the kind of care that they deserve. However, the nurse also has a responsibility to respect their profession and the other nurses that are within the job title. It is important for nurses to be able to advocate for themselves as much as they advocate for their patients which is why they participate in healthcare policies. Officials have limited experience with healthcare, so nurses are able to apply direct patient care experiences to policies that are being made when they become involved in the process.
Purpose: to write a beginning philosophy of nursing that reflects the beliefs and values of Danielle Bruno 11/2/2016 I chose nursing as my profession because nursing is to provide care for individuals who are ill and unable to do so themselves. Also, I believe nurses can make an impact on the lives of others through a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship. I believe that the core of nursing is the relationship between the nurse and the patient, which provides a solid foundation for the care the patient will receive. I believe the focus of nursing is to provide the upmost quality of care for a patient and to build a trusting relationship with them.
Philosophy of Nursing Everyone’s values and beliefs about the profession of nursing are all different. The four concepts of nursing are interrelated and all mean something different to every person, too. Throughout this paper, I will be reflecting on my values and beliefs about nursing through the four concepts while comparing them to a nursing theorist with views that are most similar to my own.

With proper ventilation, clean air, lack of noise , proper lighting, and adequate elimination of waste. Are a few factors she believed and can be observed and maintained. 2.Sister Calista Roy- Roy’s Theory is based on, in which the individual views biopsychosocial being, in which a person adapt with the constant change of the environment.
