If if we 're to change one thing in my community I would change the school lunches because they need to be healthier and taste awful. At the onset, the lunches should not have processed foods because they are full of chemicals that can harm the body. Some of the most popular chemicals are: Sodium Benzoate, Butylated hydroxide, and Butlate hydroxytoluene, canthaxanthin, olestra, high fructose corn syrup, mono sodium Glut amate, partially hydrogenated oils, Potassium bromate, and sodium nitrate. Sodium Benzoate is a chemical combined with sodium hydroxide and benzoin acid. Butylated hydroxanisole keeps the oils in the foods from oxidizing. Canthaxanthin is a natural dye in most meats. High fructose corn syrup is a common sweetener in sodas and juices, and if consumed too much can block your arteries. …show more content…

Partially hydrogenated oils are when hydrogen is added to liquid oils to turn solid. Olestra is a fat substitute that adds no fat, calories, or cholesterol to products. Potassium bromate is a food additive usually used in the baking process. Finally, sodium nitrate is a salt that preserves meats and can affect your oxygen circulation. Following, provide a fruit or vegetable to each meal because you will get more vitamins and it helps kids focus in class. Lastly, these healthy lunches can benefit from the school, because more people will buy them, and the kids will get more nutrients than those with a home made lunch.
