The authors Michelle Trudeau and Dan Weissman support the idea that high schools should delay the start time within school days. They support their claims with evidence from their writing "High Schools Starting Later to Help Sleepy Teens" and "High Schools Will Keep Starting Too Early. Here's why.". The authors of these texts use evidence to support their claims that later start times in high schools would help both the students and the school. Also, by having later school starting times high schoolers will have benefits in their health.
The readworks article “ time to think” explains the debate, students should be in school longer. On the other had the side that believes that school days should stay the same saids that longer days will not be beneficial to the students. In the article It states that there are advantages and disadvantages of changing schools hours. In both sides they do have some similarities.
Introduction In the article Time To Think from the website Readworks it talks about the argument about, how long the school day should be. Some schools have been arguing weather they should make the school day longer, and or keep it the same. Some are stating in regular school days teachers don’t get enough teaching. However, others are stating that the the long days will get in the way of after school plans or family time.
Though I concede that I as a student who wants more time off,I feel that more school would be better for me. For example, increasing instructional time causes more learning per year. Although some might object that the more time we have during school, the more time we forget about the subjects we learn in the beginning of the year. I would reply that the more time we are in school, the more our brain expands and holds in on all of this knowledge. For this reason and more, this issue is important because this issue is the difference between more time in school or not.
Many people in America believe that education systems seem to be declining rather than improving. One of the solutions offered to combat the declining quality of education is year-round schooling; thereby allowing students to go to school for a shorter period of time in a year and have longer breaks between periods throughout the year as opposed to the more common type in which there are ten months of schooling and then a two-month summer break. I believe that all students should have a break where they can take the necessary amount of time allotted to relieve themselves from the stress of a busy schedule. Public schools should not have year-round schedules because they are ineffective, would lower student’s grades, and result in less time for students to relax and participate in extracurricular activities. Year-round schooling is a relic of the past, and it did not yield favorable results.
Andrew Malaj Persuasive Essay Don’t you think middle school starts too early in the morning? All the fifth graders have to go from starting school at 9:00 to 7:00! Nearly 60% of middle schoolers don't get the 9-11 hours of sleep they need for school! I believe middle school should start later in the morning because first, they'll get better mental and physical health, second, they’ll get more sleep, and lastly, they won’t be so late. The first reason why I believe middle school should start later in the morning is because kids will get better mental and physical health.
A student’s performance in school has to be one of the most essential aspects of high school since it not only determines your future but also your success. Some might think that the weekend is the perfect amount of time to relax; however, most students are still doing school work, and they don’t have enough time for themselves. This will likely affect not only their grades but their attitude in school. Even teachers work during the weekend trying to get in grades and plan out their next lesson. One current policy in education that should be improved is that schools adopt an approach of four school days a week because it benefits both the school and teachers, it improves students’ academic performance, and student attendance greatly increases
The school board should not add one and a half hours to the school days because, the day is long enough, when will we do our home work, what if we get board and fail the class. Firstly, the day is long enough. Elementary schools already get out earlyer. Middle school is the last school to get out.
Kids need a break from learning and from school. If we got a long break from school high schoolers could get jobs and actually work more hours than they would if they had to wait until they were out of school. If they had to wait until they were out of school they would only be working for a few hours. Then if we didn’t have school they could work more hours and make more money. We spend way too much time learning stuff when we aren't ever going to use half of it again.
Should School Start Later? Will it actually be a huge advantage for students to attend school later in the day? This has been a rising argument over the years, and the health of teens, because of their increased tiredness has been an increasing concern of parents, and teachers and supervisors. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has been urging schools to start at later times such as 8:30 to ensure that students get adequate amounts of sleep every night (Source 2).
However, a school could compensate for lost time by adding time to the end of another day that week if they found this to be an issue. To ensure that four-day school weeks will be implemented throughout school districts, voice concerns to school board members. Although some have oppositions to the idea of a four-day school week, it is clear that this modification would be for the greater good of the schools. By omitting a school day, students, parents, staff, and the environment will benefit
I’ve played since I was a eleven years old, with the same coach for my entire volleyball career. The last two years of my life has gotten easier for me to learn on my own, because I relate everything in life to the sport of volleyball, or any sport in general. Engaging my life in this sport has created a family outside of my family. In a family of teammates you learn how to trust each other and also learn how to cooperate with one another like a well functioning society. In sports you also learn to be selfless; you learn how to care of others, and you learn how to be responsible for your teammates.
I think that one of the school rules the counsuler would change, in my opinioIn, I would like to change the time for lunch, because is short, and we need to do many things in that time, is the only one time off we all have. Why I would like to make this change?: A reason why I would like to change the time for lunch is because we have only thirdy minutes, and for all that time we need to: go to the cafeteria, wait in the longs lines, find a avaliable table, and then eat with the short time we have. Sometimes, it’s time to go to the classroom and we do not even finish eating, we do not have the time enough to eat our food with the time we need.
Have you ever wonder even as a parent “should schools be shorter”? Well if you do your not the only one. Lots of people including parents and students are getting involved with the question should schools be shorter. Many people agree that schools should cut down the hours and days the students have to go. On the other hand many disagree and argue and say that students should go for the requirement the school 's hours are.
My claim is that we should have an 8 hour school day because if we do we'll have less homework and get to spend time with friends we only see at school. I found this information on a website called “Scholastic.com”. This website consists of articles, they survey members of the staff and get their opinions on things. A longer school day will also enable kids able to do extracurricular activities that they don’t do, for example, theater.
