On Saturday in Burkesville,Ky there was an officer that got shot around 4 p.m by Floyd Cook who is being searched for. The officer is recovering well from the shooting. Cook is 64 years old and is believed to be on the run by foot. Schools in Cumberland have been closed for the previous days. Cook has a past which was in 1988 he was serving life sentence for rape but he broke out of prison with 7 other of his inmates.
For the particular student you have been observing, full comprehension of the task is not demonstrated until day four or sometimes day five. Eventually, these recurring ‘weak/lagging’ actions are noticed by another classmate. The classmate antagonized the student verbally, labeling him as being lazy and apathetic. His teachers were not pleased with his behavior and constantly had to send notes home to his mother and punish him in class. Nevertheless, his teachers noticed that his grades were excellent, especially in English. He was placed into a gifted class that was very fast-paced and intensive so that he could have the opportunity to challenge himself. Unfortunately, the class was also very unruly. The school decided to terminate the gifted program because his class was not performing any better, especially behavior-wise.

I could see this being a disadvantage for his age, especially when it comes to playing with other kids in his class. After watching over him for only an hour, I can tell he is a very quiet kid. I think this could be because many of the other kids in the program are older than him. I could see that he might act differently in his own classroom. Once the program started, and every child was in their seats, it was time for snacks.
The main reason I chose to write this essay, besides the fact that it's 35% of my overall quarter grade and without it I would be academically ineligible, is the simple fact that I thought it would be ironic and humorous to write an essay/research paper based on how much I really didn't want to write this paper. Situations where students are disrespectful and do not care about anything the teacher has to say, interrupts learning. When a student is labeled it then influences there "self-fulfilling prophecy" , and depending how you label a student it can influence them either negatively or positively . Self-fulfilling Prophecy can be positive or negative and can affect student behavior. If a student is engaged in a lot of negativity it can cause the student to believe bad about themselves. The only way the behaviourist approach can successfully work is if the individual, or group of individuals, know they will be rewarded or punished. It’s how they place value on what the outcome of their actions will be and how much effort is put forth. While rewarding students who correctly answer the questions and achieve certain scores on tests can be beneficial in the short term, there are several other aspects that should be used to ensure that the students are capturing the information and are able to use it in the long term.
