My book is The Haunting of Gabriel Ashe written by Dan Poblocki. It is about a boy named Gabriel that has recently moved to his Grandmother's house with his family after their family home burnt to the ground. Gabe meets a neighbor boy named Seth who invites him to play the ‘Hunters Game’. The game begins to take over Gabe's mind and he begins to wonder if the game is actually real or make believe. Gabe Ashe is the narrator of the story.
There are many books out there that are just waiting to be picked up by someone. Some of those books are good, some are great and then others aren’t as much fun to read. Out of all the books in the world the 3 books that have been read this year, A stranger in the house, the couple next door, and the fallout, have been the leading ones for the best book. To start off, the third best book, “The Fallout” by sa bodeen, is about a family of 6 kids and their mother who had just escaped their father who had kept them all underground for 5 years. 3 of the kids had been born after going into the underground hideout and 1 son, the main character’s twin, was left outside as well as their grandmother.
Hatchet This book is about a boy named Brian. Brian went to go see his dad. When he was going there on a airplane the pilot had a heart attack. So Brian tried to steer the plane and they crashed and all he had was a Hatchet so that’s all he could survive with. He built mini houses with stuff around him.
Night, by Eli Wiesel and Between Shades of Gray, by Ruta Sepetys takes the reader through a journey that they will end up remembering for the rest of their lives. The book Night is written by a teenage boy that
The title of my book is Ashes, Ashes by Karyn Folan and this is a realistic fiction story about a fallout. The main character is Liam and he wants to get himself his sister lily and a couple of his friends to a mountain bunker to be safe from a fallout that's about to happen. This story takes place in washington DC and Liam has to get himself and his sister Lilly, along the way he also picks up two of his best friends Mrs. Standish and Amaranth Jones. These to were friends Liam had at John F. Kennedy High. After he gathered these people he had to make a 200 mile trek to the mountain to get Lily and his friends to safety.
Black symbolizes death, and night, and in the story there is death. The death of father Hooper which takes place in the climax. His beloved wife, stays right by his side as she died as well. They were both in love, and she loved him endlessly even though the veil was sitting on his head every step of the way. This can be connected to Romeo and Juliet, the most exaggerated of exaggerated, because Romeo and Juliet both died to be together because their “love” for eachother was so strong and they were inseparable.
The main character, Oskar, is the quester, and his “place to go” is through the five boroughs of New York. His reason to go on this journey is to find the place where the mysterious key fits. Normally, people wouldn’t notice if an item is slightly shifted, but Oskar is special and happened to notice that the vase in his Father's room looked a little misplaced. Oscar went to see what was inside the vase but accidentally hit it off the ledge and it broke, that’s when the envelope containing the key appeared. Oskar’s goal is clear: he must find the answer to the mysterious key that his dad put in an envelope labeled “Black,” and hopes it will reveal some
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is one of a mustread book for all ages. The book tells the story of a fireman whose life takes an unexpected turn when he meets his new neighbor. Guy Montag, the fireman, then he have to face many challenges and overcomes his own fears. Montag’s society forbids its people to read any kind of books because they don’t want their people to be able to think for themselves. Much like our society today, in a way.
The book I have chosen to review is Boy 21, a fictional read that is written by Matthew Quick. Quick is a New York Times best-selling author debuting in novels such as The Silver Linings Playbook and Love May Fail. To best describe this book, it is a captivating read that is comforting for the mind, as it canvasses the raw and unflinching life of a high school senior who displays love for basketball and life relationships. Furthermore, set in a troubled Belmont city of Philadelphia, Quick incorporates the presence of mobs and violence which is captivating towards the reader and audience. I was intrigued about how the novel was written through Finley the main protagonist, which was Quick’s childhood perspective of life in Philadelphia and his passion towards basketball.
Black represents darkness and he feels devoured by a black flame; it illustrates that Eliezer feels a great sense of darkness devouring his soul. Similarly, after witnessing the tragedies of the horrors he’s undergoing, Eliezer feels ready to give up into eternal rest, “I saw myself in every stiffened corpse. Soon I wouldn't even be seeing them anymore; I would be one of them. A matter of hours”. (Wiesel 89).
I believe that Touching Spirit Bear is Fascinating book to read and it describes what’s happening at the moment and it’s also Action packed in the chapter’s. The book is mostly about a boy named Cole that goes to an island and see’s a big white bear. Some important parts is that he destroys his cabin then he tries to kill the bear he saw. Although Cole attacked the bear, he didn’t get far with it.
The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.
(Zusak 9). Black is a color that is often associated with death and despair. The reader is anticipating that something unfortunate will happen, but isn’t exactly sure about what will take place. It’s not clear if any characters will die, or if the book thief will live. Since the author mentions the color black, the reader is left to anticipate the tragic events that will soon unfold.
The Cold War was caused by political and military tension between the west and east and/or between the United States and the Soviet Union. This rivalry lasted most of the last half of the twentieth century, after World War II and the feud the two nations had. The growth in weapons of mass destruction was one of the biggest issues during this time because the damage that the weapons could do was at the time unthinkable, and a huge worrying issue. The making of nuclear weapons occurred during this time and was a magnificent scare to many people because of the destruction nuclear weapons can cause.
The color black is associated with death, evil, and mystery. Although some may argue that black isn't a color and that it's a shade, authors like to use it because it can bring out deep emotions. The book says that the streets were filled with black smoke. Yes, they were indeed filled with black smoke but, there is much more meaning than that. The streets were filled with tragedy.
