To begin, Whirligig by Paul Fleischman tells the story of Brent. He ends up killing a young girl named Lea. He has to deal with the consequence of his actions throughout the book. In addition, Whirligig has a strong theme, of everything happens for a reason, that is present throughout the story. First of all, after Lea’s death, her parents asked Brent to make Whirligigs to help keep her spirit alive.
The book has many characters with very different personalities. The book has unexpected twists and turns throughout it. The novel involves kidnappers, a dragon and (of course) the 5 children from Miami that know nothing about what they’re getting into. This book started out as, a fairly normal story.
Juvie turns boys into men. It makes the best of kids into hardened criminals. You should read Juvie Three by Gordon Korman because you get experience the daily struggles of Juvie, living away from your family, and the home life, I would highly suggest this book to any reader. If you enjoy reading about the daily struggles of teenagers in bad home lives, this book will hook you like a fish. This book will hit you with the reality of all three.
The book I chose to read is A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer who tells the story of his horrific childhood. Dave Pelzer as a child was brutally beaten and starved by his unstable alcoholic mother, his mother played so called “games” with him that nearly left him dead. He had to learn to play his mother's games in order to stay alive, as she no longer considered him apart of the family. As years went by Daves punishments or so called “games” became more dangerous, humiliating and disturbing. For example, he was forced to wear the same ripped, smelly clothing everyday.
The book I have chosen to review is Boy 21, a fictional read that is written by Matthew Quick. Quick is a New York Times best-selling author debuting in novels such as The Silver Linings Playbook and Love May Fail. To best describe this book, it is a captivating read that is comforting for the mind, as it canvasses the raw and unflinching life of a high school senior who displays love for basketball and life relationships. Furthermore, set in a troubled Belmont city of Philadelphia, Quick incorporates the presence of mobs and violence which is captivating towards the reader and audience. I was intrigued about how the novel was written through Finley the main protagonist, which was Quick’s childhood perspective of life in Philadelphia and his passion towards basketball.
It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. I would recommend this novel because it is extremely detailed, painting vivid pictures in your mind that really help to magnify and

Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.
Something bad can happen to someone and they could not even notice it. Someone could pretend to be your friend just for your nice house or nice things. If that happens to someone usually they do not notice it until after the fact. That is exactly what happened to Leandra toward the end of her vacation. She thought she had it made, but she did not.

In my middle school, students were required to read about 20 minutes of a book of their choice every day. I had never really been a fan of casual reading so I went to the school library and picked out the book with cover appealed the most. Little did I know at the time that this book would mirror and help me through my childhood. The book is named “Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen and is a 1987 Newbery Honor-winning young-adult wilderness survival novel.

He goes through many horrible things such as drinking his urine, losing his left foot and his left thumb. But, at the end, he still has the faith and braveness to fight with Annie. Paul Sheldon, like a phoenix rises from ashes, does not only get his freedom back but most importantly, he got his ability to write novels again. From his survival, he proves to all the readers that he is not only a warrior hero but also a transcendent hero; he does not only on a journey for the quest for vengeance but also the quest to rid the land of danger as he goes through the five stages of a hero’s journey.
