(D1) If a person has the ID characteristics and they seek for pleasure and they get it this would bring performance levels up having a positive effect on performance. If a person has super ego characteristics this would have a negative effect on performance as people don’t like to be told what to do especially athletes while they’re performing a sporting activity. People who have the ID characteristics won’t find it hard to get pleasure or obey to members of authority therefore their performance levels can stay stable meaning there won’t be any effect on sports performance. Therefore this would rise their motivation so they can get more and more awards, money and attention. There are three motivation theories that create a motivational climate. The first motivational theory is the need to achieve theory. This theory is about people who are confident in themselves. They’re persistent therefore they like to accept challenges which takes up great responsibility upon themselves as they are optimistic and like to look good for other people in physical terms. This strategy could be used to create a motivational climate as if they achieve their goal it will bring high levels of arousal, getting them motivated to carry on performing at a good level. This will have an effect on sports performance as the athlete would perform better in upcoming events as they will be persistent to perform at a good level
