Everyone in the world has been in a situation where they felt unmotivated. The person will start to stress about their task, but still lay around and keep themselves occupied from the to-do list. The person does not have the drive to accomplish the work. But there are times where people feel the opposite, and have the motivation to jump over the moon. Motivation gives people a good rush feeling, allowing the person to have a good reason to accomplish their goal or to act a certain way to receive a reward. Psychologists have proposed different theories how people are influenced by motivation. When it comes to intrinsic motivation, people will not procrastinate doing something they have the passion for. For example, my friend Scarlett is on the cross country team. Scarlett has the motivation to wake up every morning to run. She spends a lot of time at the track to practice and finds exercises to help her be a better track player. Also, she eats healthy to keep herself in shape for the team. Running revolves around her life. She does not need a reward to persuade herself to run. Scarlett is intrinsically motivated to run. On the other hand, there is extrinsic motivation that comes from the outside. It forces someone to do something because what it comes with: Reward or Punishment. People have extrinsic motivation because they want to receive a reward at the end, or try to avoid the possibility of punishment. Also, People get extrinsically motivated to please their bosses and get promoted. For example, my friend Kylie was also on the Cross Country team. She was a gifted runner who always ranked high in running. However, Kylie did not like running. She was the opposite of Scarlett. She did not like waking up every morning and eating healthy for the team. But her parents forced her to be on the Cross
