Introduction and Interviewee
The purpose of this interview was to see the different point of views from a sport management staff member’s stand point far as the following stated: Sports role today comparisons, social responsibility, and their own personal and professional ethics which I will be acquiring a coaching job in the next few months. My research strategy is to find out information on material that is involving college basketball coach’s mental process on ethics and values today and their everyday life. Cultural Relativism is the concepts of right and wrong are culturally determined. I conducted a face to face interview with Abigail Leaupepe-Tele. Leaupepe-Tele then stated that she is not a fan of ethics but also can’t be unemployed which it’s an executive decision that we as the people all face. It states in the lecture that sport managers must develop a coherent and consistent personal philosophy, as well as sound, responsible professional guidelines. Then the conversation continued with the second part of the question, “And the difference between personal and professional ethics?” The overarching theme of the answer was that personal and professional ethics both co-exist with one another. Some have mastered the idea of keeping the balance between the two. Those people who can separate their personal and professional lives they practice this at a high level. They know that personal business should be handled in an ethical way to where it does not affect them professionally. I learned in the lecture that although one's personal beliefs can be distinguished from one's professional standards, there is usually some overlap between these dimensions. People should keep personal lives personal. Technology is the easiest way for your professional life to intertwine with your personal life. Most individuals do not realize in everyday life a person has to make ethical decisions, conduct, and moral character combine to influence both personal and professional ethics today. However, easily not knowing that personal beliefs can be successful from your professional standards which one usually overlaps. Personal beliefs influence leadership practices. The interviewee believes that there are certain rules and regulations that you must follow to set by the higher being. She said there are two components to what she sees as ethics. We as American citizens all know we end up leaving situations because of morals and beliefs because we encourage to be happy and do for oneself. She believes that they co-exist with one another. As a citizen we know that some have mastered the idea of keeping the balance between personal and professional ethics. Some people can separate personal and professional ethics. Personal ethics determines what an individual believes about morality. Professional ethics is personal and corporate rules that govern behavior within the context of a particular profession. She agreed that personal business should be handled in an ethical way to where it does not affect them professionally. A person should know that one’s personal business should never affect a job, livelihood, or income.
