College Education Rising
Education is starting to escalate through the years. Not many people can afford to send their kids off to college or students being able to afford college like it used to. Every year the price for tuition rises and books start getting more pricey. Stephen and Riley's claims about the amount of money being spent on education for college. Although, Stephens talk about how college education is a waste while Riley talks about how college education is really worth. Both gives a similar example by talking about how college education can be a debt to many students and they pursue in getting a degree in order to get their career going. Therefore, I am going to discuss an open-mind on why the college education is both worth the cost.
An article I chosen, “Fact Sheet: Focusing Higher Education on Student Success” stated many factors on how attending college will help you in the long run. “College graduates with a bachelor’s degree typically earn 66 percent more than those with only a high school diploma; and are also far less likely to face unemployment.” This is very true, having a degree will allow you to have any job you desire but also you will never go in life not having a job. Most job hired people that have a bachelor degree because it shows the commitment and years you put in school to get the career you want. It is hard for most people to get jobs now a days because it can be strictly based on experience and how much education you acquired. “Recent surveys show large majorities affirming the importance of postsecondary education but characterizing it as too expensive and sometimes financially out of reach (Hart Research Associates 2013; Lumina Foundation and Gallup 2013; Taylor et al. 2011).” Getting the education that you need, can be very expensive. Most parents cannot afford the money to send their children off the college to get the education they need. Parents always want their kid to succeed in life and have a better future because most came from families that had to work hard to support their family and was not able to go to college. Or, many young adults have to work a lot in order to have the money to pay for the books they need for the classes they are taking. It is a big financial issue but having the education and experience can lead you a better job position. You work hard and study hard in order to get where you want in life. There is a price to everything in life. Another critique I found that I agreed on, “ It also required all colleges and universities eligible for Title IV federal aid to report average net prices and to create online calculators to enable prospective students and their families to estimate the net price of attendance.” Almost every college, you get a chance to apply for financial aid.
