There's a disturbing trend within the American educational system in regards to students failing mathematics. Many students pass from grade to grade without a solid foundation of basic math concepts, which would prepare them for more advanced material once in high school and college. There are many reasons why math seems to be the most failed subject among students. First, schools may not possess proper resources to update textbooks and other materials on a yearly basis.

Another reason could be teachers not wanting to take the time to learn and then outline new material for the classroom because it's too time-consuming. D, passing back to all the students their subtraction math tests. The majority of the students in the classroom did very well. I, on the other hand, didn't do so well. As the other students smiled, laughed and celebrated having passed their test, the teacher had me sit at a desk facing the wall and said that I should review my test to see where I went wrong. D. The environment was so hostile that many students would even make mistakes on basic one-digit addition and subtraction. And normally, the school permitted students to break for a snack around early afternoon, but Mr. D was the only teacher that banned snack time in his classroom. This is because Mr. D said he said he had to lose weight and if he couldn't have snacks we students couldn't either.
