Personally, writing tends to come easy to me. I can easily translate my thoughts into words and let them flow on to paper, now. Early on, I was the complete opposite. I used to dread writing because I lacked the ability to translate my thoughts into words. Some of my early writing made absolutely no sense. But since then, I have learned to conquer words and acquire different aspects of writing traits that put a positive shift on my writings. Currently, I prosper in writing challenges. I have completed various activities that have shaped me into the writer I am today, but not have always been. I came to college with good knowledge from my high school teachers, however writing in college is a drastic change that I feel I was not prepared for. Responding to the requests of previous teachers and doing what I was told to do was very had to overcome. Do not get me wrong I obviously still follow instructions given to me, but the difference now is that I take my own approach to things. In doing so, I learned new strategies that work best for me. Giving up, and not trying to find something that worked for me was not the right approach. This was brought to my attention in “Failure Is Not an Option” by Allison Carr, “Or failure is acceptable if we learn from it. If we can recuperate it, if it brings us virtue and strength and morality because what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” (76). Learning to conquer issues is a step in the growing process, especially with writing. This is very important in the writing process because this teaches that particular individual, as a writer, to find themselves in a sense. Meaning you do not know what works for you and what does not work for you if you do not try everything. Personally, I tried everything. I tired different methods until I found the one that molded to me
