Just earlier this very year, there was a horrible fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory where 146 workers perished. Some died from the fire and others from jumping from the windows in order to escape it. Triangle Shirtwaist has brought the plight of these poor workers to the forefront as the public takes notice of the lack of safety measures in place at not just this factory, but many similar workplaces, and demands that something be done to prevent such a tragedy from occurring again. I believe one of the first steps to creating a safer workplace is having government regulations in place that prevent the mistreatment of workers and ensure that employees can escape in case of emergency. The regulations themselves should not be just broad, but address the many issues that workers face in order to give the workers the safest and healthiest working environment possible.

Introduction According to Alford (2007), a whistleblower is one who speaks out against illegal or unethical practices in school or in the organization where he or she works. Whistle-blowing, is an essential factor for pin-pointing and eradicating unethical activities in most organization set ups (Brown, 2008). According to Sawyer, Johnson and Holub (2010), most individuals disregard the idea of whistle-blowing because they fear that they will be avoided and could end up losing their job careers and also their good names. When an individual is torn between two or more deeds and have virtuous reasons for choosing each action, this is regarded to as an ethical dilemma.
Sexual harassment and sexual assault are very serious issues happening today in the workplace. Women or men have suffered from unsolicited sexual behaviors that are typically provoked by someone “higher” in position. “Sexual harassment especially has been a fixture in the workplace since women began to work outside their homes” (Fitzgerald, 1993). It is solely the responsibility of the employer to ensure that all employees within are aware and are very cautions of laws, misconduct, and liabilities. Employers must enforce the Policy Prohibiting Discrimination and further extend those laws and guidelines to their employees.
It is imperative to be knowledgeable about the different elements that come with this career. Specifically, the role of ethics and how different populations are often vulnerable. I believe that everyone should be treated equally, and I will act as such. Everyone and anyone should be given equal opportunities, especially in the training room. This includes one-on-one attention, explanations, conversations, etc.
