Rome was the richest and most powerful for around 200 years then started to have a fallout.The Roman army was conquering people left and right, which led to the increase of Rome. Caesar used his status to turn the Republic into an Empire. Rome became lazy and let their guard down, after being peaceful for 1,250 years they were invaded by an outside establishment.Parts of the Empire survived but most were destroyed. One of the most powerful empires in history, experienced a decline in both its economic and civic systems due to a number of factors. If the people of Rome did not like the Emperor they would be assassinated, which would make them seem weaker. Not to mention with so many Emperors going in and out of power, it causes the people of Rome to develop a way of thinking such as, trust nobody and that people will be out to get them.This made Rome weak and easy to conquer. Another one of Romes biggest mistakes was its military which helped cause its downfall. One mistake was that Rome tried to control too much land and too many people. This stretched its military thin and made it hard to defend all of its borders. Another mistake was that Rome relied too much on its military to solve its problems. This caused the military to become too powerful and sometimes even turn against the government. Finally, Rome made the mistake of not adapting its military to new threats, such as barbarian invasions and new weapons like the longbow, also they did not use armor so their vital spots were open.
