In 2013 the pop punk/pop rock band Fall Out Boy shocked fans and listeners around the world with the announcement of their new album, Save Rock and Roll. Save Rock and Roll debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 earning the band their second career number one. The leading single on this album as well as their second career number one, “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” achieved triple-platinum certification in the U.S. and charted worldwide. Towards the end of the song there is some weird techno beats that don’t sound like they belong, but that is quickly forgotten once Stump once again shows of his amazing vocalization. This song is another example of Fall Out Boy testing the waters and different studio techniques, and this time it’s positive and worked for them. The next song “Young Volcanoes” was another one of the strongest songs on this album. Although once again it had more of a dance/pop/mainstream vibe, it is still a catchy song that all fans of theirs will love. “Young Volcanoes” shows their talent to adapt their music to please old fans as well as a new generation of fans by making pop rock songs with powerful, relatable lyrics. This song is completely different form their other strong songs on this album such as “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark” and “Phoenix”, but it still suits them
