I am Stephanie Burr the CEO of Fame Network. My privately-owned television company has stumbled into issues with our employees who some appear on the network posting political matters, free speech, and protests and demonstrations on their social media pages. Fame Network has received criticism from not only politicians, but as well people of the public. I plan on sending an email to all the employees to inform every one of the complaints that the company has been receiving based on the social media postings that were made by multiple employees. We must resolve this social media matter before it grows into a bigger issue causing harm to Fame Network. Employees may not post nor publish any confidential information regarding the company. If said employee does post any confidential information said employee will be terminated without notice. 5. All employees should adhere to the company policies while engaging in social media reference to the Fame Network. No employees are exempt from these policies. Creating a set of policies was the most ethical way we could have gone about this issue. We are able to establish these policies considering we are a private company. The first amendment does not apply to private companies. Our company’s and stakeholder’s reputation and our employee’s happiness are our number one priorities. The policies will not only protect the company’s reputations, but nonetheless the employee’s reputation. It is imperative to us at Fame Network to think of all parties involved. Our new policies will affect everyone involved with the company including the stakeholders. Our stakeholders include our owners, employees, suppliers, and our community. If we allow an employee to post their opinion on social media that does not adhere to company standards, we may lose a stakeholder or ruin one of our stakeholder’s reputations as well as our own.
