In August 2014, the Department of Family and Protective Services, was up for this next sunset review, which is defined as “a particular agency, program, policy, or law will expire on a particular date, unless it is reauthorized by the legislature.” (Texas) . The people that are on the Sunset Advisory Commission consist of a total of twelve five senators, one public member appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, and five member of the House Representative and one public member appointed by the Speaker of the House. The Child Protective Service did investigate the complaint, but again not within the guideline time fame which is 72 hours, they waited until May 2011, which is two months later. It seems to me that they are giving the abuser a chance to cleaning up their act instead of catching them in the act. The children did not have any scaring suggesting that they were abuse, without enough evidence they closed the case. But they waited two months later to go and investigate the complaint, that’s time enough for the wounds to heal. It wasn’t’ noted that they actually talked to the kids they only confronted the parent. Think about it if you did a crime knowing that you will be incarcerated for it would you confess to the crime, of course not. The children are the ones that are being abuse is there a law that says that you cannot talk to a child without the parents consistent? The case worker should have followed protocol and not wait until all the evidence is gone before investigating the
