Through the ages the world have been introduced to many different fashion trends. These trends were aimed towards A varying degree of sex,age, purpose, and meaning. In today 's culture they have been adapted in order to fit society 's standards and bring new meaning to life. There were also many trends that were deemed appropriate in their time that if society were to see today, they would rule it out as inappropriate. There are many reasons as why these fashions have been reconstructed in order to make room for the new standards of society and the acceptance of those who pursue these trends. In ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece examples of these will be introduced. In ancient Egypt it was perfectly suitable for children up to the age of six to not wear clothing. One class called the Plebeians wore a dark tunic which was made with very inexpensive material in order to keep costs down because they couldn’t afford much. On the other hand the Patricians wore very expensive tunics made of silk and other luxurious materials since they had the money to do so. Romans who were in the upper class wore red sandals with little ornaments attached to their heels, lower class romans wore worn out leather sandals. One thing that we see among many different civilizations is the royalness of the colour purple. The Roman senators or magistrates had purple stripes on their tunics called tunica laticlavia. The Toga Palmata is a tunic with a gold border that is worn by Generals. The most expensive outfit worn was a completely purple toga which emperors were dressed in. While the Romans had slaves it was forbidden for them to wear a toga as it is only to be worn by those of upper class. Women were also allowed to wear toga’s until they were branded as prostitutes for wearing
