I woke up one early morning and my family was still asleep. We had not eaten in a couple of days and the bones that we extract marrow from were running out. The only female in the group is taking care of the oldest member who now has lost most of his teeth. The last female in the group had died after getting a cut on her arm scavenging for fruit. It was time to get some wood to add to the fire that was burning bright. As the alpha male I knew that I needed to provide for my family. I took my brother and we set on a long walk to look for any form of animal to eat, no matter the size or how dangerous. We took out spears held them tightly in our hands and set out.
It was a cold morning, colder than usual, so far no luck the plains were lonely

Times were hard since winter approached and the weather was getting cold. Yet again the animals were hard to find and I knew that providing for another person was going to be hard. During the night the alpha woman took my brother, my son, and I out of the cave; my youngest son was arriving. I could hear the younger female screaming in pain as she was delivering my son. All I could think about was the fact that with a newborn in the clan I would have to provide more for the younger female since she had to breastfeed my son. She was not able to go gathering with the alpha female because she could not take the newborn with her and had to stay put to breastfeed. I walked up to her and the baby looking at them one more time together. I walked away and sat next to the fire where the alpha female was sitting at. She looked at me and I gave her a nod, she walked up to the younger female who was holding my newborn son in her hands. The alpha female gestured for the baby and she took him out of the younger females hands. She took him to the far end of the cave where she proceeded with killing the newborn with her bare hands. She cut the newborns body and brought he pieces of flesh and bone to the fire. She proceeded to cook the flesh and bones and the clan ate that day. Nothing went to waste; the bone marrow was also extracted. It wasn’t something that my clan wanted to do, but in order to survive the winter and in order to guarantee the future of the clan it had to be
