I would like to take the time to introduce myself, I am a student currently enrolled in Niceville high school and a strong supporter of feminism. Being a female, even in today's society, can offer some unique challenges, that otherwise men do not have to face. For example I take pride in being a cadet in my AFJROTC unit, but it can be harder at times to have opportunities for advancement, do to The male dominated nature of the organization. Despite this fact, I am not easily deterred from trying to advance. I credit an astounding amount of this determination to female pioneers like yourself that have dedicated their lives to attaining equal opportunities for women, and that determination inspired me to exactly that and advance in a male dominated world. …show more content…

The amazing strides you have made in the world of women's rights have inspired many young women, like myself, break the barriers set forth by society and in our everyday lives. It takes a tremendous amount of courage for women to stand up and demand a change, demand that our voices be heard; your avid social-political activism and journalism inspired, and continues to inspire, women, like myself, to build up the courage to have our voice heard. As the society continues to evolve and change, so does the definition of feminism. The original definition of feminism states that feminism is the “advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social and economic equality to men”. This definition of feminism set the groundwork for the current interpretation of this groundbreaking movement. The current understanding of what it truly means to be a feminist has become more complex; in addition to fair and equal treatment, the modern idea of feminism encourages women to pursue whatever avenue of expression or lifestyle that the choose to
