Fictional Narrative By: Emma Mortara This was a miserable week for my family. More fighting than usual and more complaining. I couldn’t focus on anything. Not even homework which is why I’m failing all my classes and the end of term is quickly approaching. I woke up as the sun was rising. I devoured my cheerios, brushed my teeth, put my contacts in on my crystal blue eyes, got dressed in dark jeans and a new white shirt I got for my birthday, and grabbed my black North Face school bag off my kitchen counter. “Rosie can you put my hair up real quick!” I requested. “Fine last day doing it though.” Rosie uttered as she rolled her eyes. Rosie began to pull back my blonde thick hair in a tight pony tail. “Bye Mom, bye Dad!” I yelled but they didn’t hear me, as usual they were complaining about money. “I didn’t realize it was due today, I thought next week. Sorry.” I responded. My face then flushed up like a tomato because I was so embarrassed. I watched him scribble in a zero on his green grading book. “How about you start staying after with me. This project will affect your grade and I don’t want to fail you in my class and I don’t think your parents would either.” Mr. Smith offered. I thought about it because I’ve never stayed after before and although I had a lot of self doubt about my education, it would be worth a try.
