Figurative language is used throughout “Everyday” to illustrate setting and character. David Levithan displays a lot of similes and personification which resembles his style of writing. Levithan does this effectively by giving the reader visuals and mental pictures to grasp what is happening in different points of the novel. The reader doesn’t know anything that “A” doesn’t know. Although some pieces of information “A” has are not revealed to the reader.
