As I prepare for my final semester at the University of Houston (UH) as an undergraduate studying mathematics, the love and enthusiasm I have for mathematics and the opportunities I have taken advantage of define the direction I have for my future. Before transferring to UH, my future plans and goals were very unclear and uncertain. However, since transferring to UH, I have been making significant progress towards my career goals: earning my Ph. D. in mathematics and becoming a mathematics research professor. The past three semesters spent here, at UH, has been a drastic and constructive change that has guided me as I prepare for post graduation. Consequently, for this final semester, I plan to resume all the activities I have been participating in. Moreover, I intend to leave my own legacy behind as a reminder for current and future mathematic cougars of the importance of diligence, hard work, and tenacity. …show more content…
Previously, I was funded by UH’s Scholar Enrichment Program (SEP) to continue my research project I began in the summer of 2015 with Dr. Mark Tomforde. Together, we produced original research and created a generalized ranking procedure for multiplayer competitions. Next semester, we plan to continue working together on this research project and write up our results. Furthermore, in January 2016, I will be traveling to the University of Nebraska to give a talk about my research at the annual Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics. I am very excited and honored to be selected to present my research at this conference. Moreover, this is an additional opportunity that was brought to my attention, and I took advantage of it to prepare for my
