Social media is a large influence amongst the people in today’s generation. Social media has opened a new way of life with emails, web browsers and everything we need at the end of our fingertips. (McFedries, 2009) We are now able to access the internet no matter where we go, whether that is by using free wifi amongst shopping centres and the city, using our own or a friend’s personal wifi or by using our own mobile data “70% of young people believe that social media is a force for change” (The world Bank, 2013). Although I have several social media accounts, I rarely post online unless my post is for a special occasion or I believe it is news I would like to share to my social media friends and followers. I utilise social media to connect with friends and family who I have not seen for a long period of time and to remain updated on, with the latest news. The major social media accounts I exercise are Facebook, which I view videos, photos and posts from relatives and friends in other states and to talk to them over the messenger application. I also use Snapchat to send my family and friends photos of what I am doing so they can be a component of it, although they are not there and I exploit Instagram for photos which I upload of my life and I can view photos of my friends lives and adventures.
