Agriculture has an enormous impact on our society. Without agriculture how would we feed ourselves and the livestock that we eat? The domestication of plants for food was critical decision in the evolution of humans. Humans did not always domesticate plants, before 8000 BC humans were hunter/gatherers, this change was called the Neolithic Revolution. We relied on our abilities to hunt wild animals and gather wild plants for food. Another key point in human history was the Green Revolution. The Green Revolution was the beginning of the use of genetically modified plants and synthetic pesticides and fertilizer to increase yield. However, the Green Revolution had many social implications that came along with its benefits. Workers lost their jobs to machines that cost less and perform more efficiently. …show more content…

They followed the herds of animals when the seasons changed, and gathered the food-bearing plants in warmer weather climates. Eventually humans choose to settle down in these temperate regions and start domesticating plants and animals. But what led to this sudden change to stop following the food? HistoryWorld.Net (2016) explains, “Part of the reason may be the ending of the most recent cold phase of the present ice age. This creates new temperate regions, in which humans can live comfortably. By contrast many of their main victims in the chase cannot survive in the changed climate”. The idea of domesticating plants came slowly over time.
