Poh (2014) clarified that video gaming has come a long way since the early days of Pong and Pac-man. The competition between companies that make video games for us improve more and more as the years progress, doing their best to satisfy the customers and to beat their competitors. The first video games were created in the 1950s, made specifically for those huge computers. It wasn’t until the late 1960s when video game consoles were starting to come out. In 1972, the first home video game console that could be connected to a TV was created by Magnavox. More consoles were created in the 1975 – 1977 which included: Magnavox Odyssey 100, Magnavox Odyssey 200, Coleco Telstar and much more.

These 2 console brands are now the most successful gaming console brands in the market. The design of the PlayStation and Xbox consoles were so much better than those old consoles that were made previously. The controllers were user-friendly and provided comfort for gamers who spent excessive amount of hours playing video games. The controllers on these 2 consoles differed from the older consoles that had been created. The Xbox controllers were shaped similar to the PlayStation ones. The only difference was that the button layouts and names were different, and the Xbox controller was a bit thicker. The big difference with these 2 consoles was that they both started moving to 3D based games, unlike those old consoles with 2D. PlayStation and Xbox started making story-based games that would make the user more engaged and take full control of the game and where it’s heading. These games are also known as First Person Shooters (FPS). Large gaming companies sign contracts with the military to get all the information they need when creating their FPS games, in order to make the game as realistic and engaging and possible. So when a gamer has a gun in his hands and he’s shooting people whilst in the game, he’s actually experiencing what soldiers in the military experience. This changes the experience of the user from not just playing a video game at home, but getting themselves engaged in what’s happening in the real world, while holding a controller. Some aspects with the FPS games mechanics are decided by the military itself. Many FPS gamers have actually been influenced to go and sign up for the military. So basically, we are learning military training while we play these FPS games (Peck, 2014). One example would be Call of Duty: Ghosts, which is also known as CoD: Ghosts. CoD: Ghosts is a FPS game that takes the user to a journey any soldiers has probably experienced.
