Social media is a phrase that we throw around these days, often to describe what we or other people post on sites and apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and others. But we cannot define just social media with some apps, so what it really means? The term is used so vaguely that it can basically be used to escribe any website on the internet today.
Firstly, social media has changed society a lot and not only in the last five years, has it from the beginning of its creation. Many people were signed on, but they did not see the point until a few years later. Twitter appeared around that times, but a lot of people saw it as a pointless life casting toy. LinkedIn was essentially a digital resume, google more did not even came on the scene until 2011, follow later by Pinterest and other platforms.
Forward to 2014, social media has become not only a key part of the modern life style, but a useful marketing channel business of all sizes. Kids now make fun of the phones that their parents used to communicate before all the technology came. That means that everything has officially and permanently change. The next generations of kids the will not even conceive of a world without smart phones and social networking.
Social media has had a profound impact on the concept of a personal brand. Our lives become increasingly more public, as we all share information on a variety of networks.
