Whenever I write I always extensively research the topic and write down the important facts, so that I can develop my own explanations. Especially, since I was unfamiliar with the topic about building of your “brand.” it was necessary to dedicate a significant amount of time to understand the concept of a personal brand. Extensive research and preparation has become an asset personally and in the Applied Communication program at National Louis University. Consequently, using this strategy allows me to provide pertinent details and get straight to the point, so readers don’t get bored. First, I’m guilty of making grammatical errors that I don’t notice. I am aware that this is an issue that affects a lot of writers, but I can attribute this weakness to typing and thinking at a fast pace. I get overwhelmed by the tasks that are required, and I tend to overlook simple mistakes. Occasionally, I get into a flow while writing and I focus more on the message that I trying to deliver to the reader. Combined with the grammatical errors, my other greatest weakness as a writer is proofread my work. Therefore, when I finish writing a paragraph I must stop and reread it to confirm that my writing contains the facts that I want to share. Also, it must sound cohesive and convey the important points regarding the topic discussed in my writing before I move on to the next paragraph. However, if the paragraph doesn’t flow smoothly, I address those issues immediately before I proceed with the rest of my writing. I always make sure I edit a paragraph before I move on to the next. This has helped me reduce many senseless errors that I often overlook when I proofread the entire document.
