On September 13th, 1967 a fire took place in a church in Windrixville, there were some children playing in the church when it caught fire, there teenage boys saved their lives. There was a school picnic planned that day of the fire. Some of the students were disobeying their teachers. Those children were the ones in the fire. Three teenage boys showed up soon to become heroes.

Through out the history of the United States, a number of incidents and disasters have occurred to influence safety and protection. In the aftermath of these events, valuable lessons are learned and steps are taken to ensure nothing like that happens again. One such incident is the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, one of the most influential and horrifying incidents in United States history. The fact that both the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) and National Safety Council (NSC) trace their history back to this incident speaks to that. Sadly, the tragic events that unfolded during the Triangle fire were not surprising.

Forrest were charged with theft of federal government property, conspiracy against rights and deprivation of rights under color of the law. The Kansas City police officer were caught by FBI (Federal bureau of Investigation). The Kansas City police officers stole several items and cash in a house that had surveillance cameras during a staged sting operation. The type of situation always makes people wonder what would make these people want to do something like this? Why would the officers discarded their commitment to the city to protect and serve as they swore to do so?
In the article, Heroic Firefighter’s Story, published by ABC News, the author focuses on the story of a particular firefighter who risked and lost his own life in attempt to rescue victims stuck inside the World Trade Center during 9/11, Timothy Stockpole. The article first introduces us to Stockpole by presenting a background of him, describing a life-threatening incident he first had while stuck in a burning house 3 years before his actual death. Then, it continues to explain what happened to him as he attended his (unknowingly) last day of work, while going into detail about what happened soon after his death, such as the fact that 10,000 people showed up at his funeral. While reading “The Las Vegas shooting”, I learned that someone shot a gun while at a country festival and a man, Jonathan Smith, helped save people. While helping people keep safe and unharmed, he got shot twice, once in the neck and another in the stomach area. He made it out alive, fortunately, but the doctor’s kept the bullet in his neck to keep away from further damage. After the accident was ended, Smith got asked a few questions, some in the range of “Why did you do what you did?”, his answer was “I don’t see myself that way, I would want someone to do the same for me. No one deserves to lose a life coming to a country festival.”
I t has been 145 years since one of today’s biggest cities was burned to the ground. One normal day in the city of Chicago, a fire started in the O’ Leary’s barn on October 8th, 1871. There was dry weather and most of the city was made from wood. With the wood, and the dry, windy weather, the city was very flammable. Once the fire started, it spread to the whole city.
Firefighter Conrad and Jill enter. Jill is carrying a brown bag as well as two plastic bags. The room is a dark wood panel room with shag carpeting. There are two queen size beds. There are three pictures in the room, a bear in the woods, a fox in the woods and a fish swimming upstream.
This is a great way to start my career as a firefighter and I want to be one of the 15 students that get into the program. This program will let me see first hand the work firefighters do and I will be able to expand my skills as an EMT and later as a paramedic. I’m enthusiastic to put my knowledge and medical skills and thrilled to apply to this program and be part of the team. In my current employer, I’m a health technician and EMT where I’m in charge of everything medical.
There is a shortage of people wanting to be firefighters while people are quitting firefighting, some ways to fix this is incorporating ways to deal with mental health, increase the wages, and going out and teaching the public about firefighting. Background Right now in the US there is a shortage of firefighters. Many firefighters are leaving for many reasons like retirement, stress, low pay, and many other reasons. At the same time, many fire departments are struggling to recruit firefighters.
First Responders put their life on the line for innocent people everyday. They are the first ones to arrive on scene bring help or supplies to those in need. Those responder are Police Officers, Paramedics, Firefighter, Emergency Dispatchers, and Military Personal. Many people do not realize the amount of stress that being a first responder can put on a person.
To serve and Protect The definition of a firefighter is “a person whose job is to extinguish fires”, however that just scratches the surface of the many responsibilities of a firefighter. A firefighter can fight a fire and also make an emergency medical call if need be. The work of a firefighter is dangerous, it can include collapsing buildings, emergency medical situation, and in extreme cases, even death.
In conclusion, firefighting started from a humble background in ancient Egypt with the simple gesture of building of a pump. From there, ideas grew, and more innovations discovered that has made it an outstanding professionalism it is today. The important role that firefighting plays in the society has seen it transform over the centuries since the third century. Cities have in the past been devastated by fire outbreaks with examples being London and major cities in America. It is safe to say, if those cities had not reconsidered the importance of firefighters, then they would have seized to exist.
