Misfortune The true story of Romeo and Juliet isn’t the love story that many assume. Throughout Shakespeare's play, miscommunications and flaws lead to characters death and sorrow. The story faces complication among complication. There is one trait that without it, the play would face no tragedies--impulse. The whole play takes place over six days and faces countless issues. The characters act spontaneously without being aware of the consequences. To begin, an accurate representation of these qualities are exemplified through Juliet. Throughout act two, Juliet meets Romeo for the first time and “falls in love with him.” She calls out on her balcony for him and when he arrives, she realizes that they should be together and makes immediate plans to marry him the next day. “If that thy bent of love be honorable, Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow” (Shakespeare 2.2. 212-213). This quote particularly, shows how Juliet is not thinking about how she is thirteen years old and talking to a boy she has never met before this day and making plans for marriage. …show more content…

He tries to help Romeo and Juliet out many times but he doesn’t give thought to his resolutions and they lead to horrible consequences. Friar Laurence plans to give Juliet a special potion to make her seem dead. “No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest; The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fade to paly ashes, thy eyes’ windows fall like death when he shuts up the day of life” (Shakespeare 4.1. 255). This was a bad decision on the Friar’s part because, all goes according to plan until Romeo finds Juliet’s “dead” body and ends up taking his own life due to the extreme sorrow caused from his deceased wife.
