Food Availability for a College Student
Often many college students find themselves scrambling to find a meal for themselves, in order to satisfy their hunger. This is not any easy process, as students usually have to prepare an arduous meal or travel to the nearest restaurant. Both of these processes take up valuable time and money, which most college students have neither. With this in mind, I am going to research how the college students obtain a meal. To conduct this research, I will observe the food college students are eating for their lunchbreaks, either at work or in between classes around the University of California at Irvine campus.
Methods
Setting I will use two areas to study the food UC Irvine students are eating. The first one will be the “Compound”, which is where all the student workers employed by UC Irvine Athletics eat their lunch. The second area, I will observe a patio area, on campus at UC Irvine, where many students usually eat their lunch.

More than likely, most students will rely on fast food for their lunch or something simple like a sandwich. It is important for me to observe as to whether their food is purchased or brought from home. Even students not eating on their lunchbreaks will be an important observation to pay close attention to. In addition, I will also interview students about their lunch and how they prepared it. During this interview, I will also ask the students about the food they eat for dinner and breakfast. I want to understand the difficulty these students have in preparing and finding a meal each
