Drayden Kopec Wogernese 8/9 3/13/2024 School lunches Do you like your school food or your lunch room?Have you ever wanted to try something else for a change? Well, I'm going to talk to you about how school lunches should have a change. My reasoning for talking about school lunches is because some schools have very non-nutrient for the students. Some schools just don’t have food that their students like or that is good for them. Maybe this is because the equipment used to prepare the lunch is inadequate. I have also found out how schools need to be a little more accountable for following food regulations that are put up for the students health and safety. This is because the food is not to their standards, so students are not going to eat it. ProQuest said “The most nutritious meals are the ones students actually eat.” To add on to this, they say that the schools don't have the food up to the standards they need to have. For example, 1 out of 5 students are going to be obese. This is stated because the school's food is not healthy for students. That can lead to being obese and life-threatening consequences like diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers. For example, these guidelines call for limiting added sugars to less than 10% of daily calories. In comparison, added sugars provide about 17% of calories in school breakfasts and about 11% in school lunches. Currently, the USDA does not have guidelines limiting sugar in school meals” Facts by ProQuest.
