Do you agree with the changes Michelle Obama has made to lunches in our schools? People are either for the changes or against them. There are many pros and cons about the changes made to school lunches. Even though there are pros to the changes, a majority of people do not agree with the changes. I feel school lunches should be changed, to an extent, for a couple of reasons. To begin with, prior to World War II, school lunches lacked in nutrition. It was after World War II that the government noticed this. In an effort to change this, they passed the National School Lunch Act. This act basically made lunches in schools healthier. Nutritional value of lunches rose dramatically after the act was put into effect. Eventually, the National School Lunch Program came to be because of the original act. The new program basically did the same things as the original act, but it made school lunches accessible to lower income families. As First …show more content…

Some of the cons are that schools have higher expenses, caused by the need to buy high nutritional foods, kids are throwing away a lot of the food, and it affects many families negatively because they are having to pay for school lunches that their kids do not like. As we all know, healthier foods cost a decent amount more than foods that lack in nutrients. Even though healthier foods are good for kids to eat, they don’t like it. Now that they don’t like the food, they are throwing more and more food away. Since the food they are throwing away costs more to buy, not just food is being wasted, so is money. Since kids are throwing away food, they are getting even less nutrients than they would if they were to eat food lacking in nutrients. This is bad for kids who are in low income families. For all we know, lunch at school could be the only meal they get every day. Overall, I feel Michelle Obama's changes to school lunches have serious
