Healthier School Lunch Program Schools are now executing a healthier lunch program. Michelle Obama implemented the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act in 2012. Dre. Axe wrote and article in May of 2017 about the pros and cons of the program. Many have their opinions about this program including myself. I agree to disagree with the program. In 2017 Dre. Axe wrote an article pertaining to the program that Michelle Obama executed. Some of the pros of this program were that students are required all grains to be 100 percent whole grain rich, limited sodium and capping the number of calories per serving. Dr. Axe also speaks about the possible upsides to the program which could be lower costs, decrease waste and the possibility of not affecting nutrition.

Decreased participation in the school food program is also a con. More students are waiting to eat at home rather than at school. Driven up costs for school districts are also one of the downsides to the program. Dre. Axe also speaks about the possible decreases that may come with this program such as possibly not decreasing waste or participation. Dre. Axe also speaks about the sodium not offering any nutrition and leading to looser regulations. Teens have resorted to social media about their frustrations with the new school eating says Roberto Fredman. Fredman who wrote the article School kids are blaming Michelle Obama for their ‘gross’ school lunches elaborated about the frustration of teens including quotes from the teens twitters.
