But when a tragic event happens who persists in bringing comfort and relief back. Forensic science discovers the real truth to ease the pain of tragic events. Forensic scientists can use DNA evidence to create a profile or genetic fingerprint of a person in order to link them to a crime. In the United States, the standard procedure is to test thirteen sections of a person's DNA. Those thirteen sections can only be found in one and a trillion people, which is more than Earth’s population (Heos, 201). When forensic scientists use ballistics, they analyze the microscopic marks left on the bullet but also the cartridge case from firing. This is ordinarily done under a split screen microscope or even by the naked eye. Another type of analysis forensics uses is fingerprints. For more than one hundred years scientists have analyzed the friction ridges and furrows created by fingerprints left at crime scenes. Every person has a unique print which falls into a classification into groups of loops, whorls, and arches, as well as how the lines form, end and split. Bloodstain pattern analysis remains a great way to determine the actions that occurred at a scene. Bloodstains can occur as passive, transfer, and projected or impact stains. Stains take shape from circular to elliptical, having spines or tails from the direction of travel. The length and angle of impact can also be calculated through this (Simplified Guide) .
